The Heinkel He 70 was a German mail plane and fast passenger aircraft of the 1930s, which was also used in auxiliary bomber and reconnaissance aircraft rolls. It had a relatively short commercial career before it was replaced by types that can carry more passengers. The 70 He was a leading design for the day, the set of the eight world speed records at the beginning of 1933.
Twenty-eight aircraft were sent to the Condor Legion, where they were used during the Spanish Civil War as fast reconnaissance aircraft planes. Their high speed (and probably the already existing “blitz” title) gave them the nickname Rayo (lightning).
